Express Entry

Here at Blue Bird Immigration, we understand the journey to a new life filled with possibilities can be both exciting and overwhelming. That’s why we’ve dedicated ourselves to guiding you through Canada’s Express Entry system, the key to unlocking your Canadian dream.

What Is Express Entry?

Express Entry is a streamlined system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage applications for permanent residency from skilled workers. Designed to facilitate the immigration process for individuals who wish to live and work in Canada, Express Entry is a competitive, point-based system that ranks candidates based on factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency in English or French.

How Does Express Entry Work?

The Express Entry system encompasses three main federal immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Applicants create an online profile, which is then scored and entered into the Express Entry pool. Scores are determined based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assesses candidates’ profiles against one another.

Periodically, IRCC conducts draws from this pool, inviting the highest-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residency through Invitation to Apply (ITA) rounds. It’s important to note that entering the Express Entry pool does not guarantee an invitation to apply for permanent residency, candidates must meet or exceed the minimum score of a given draw.

Key Requirements for Express Entry

To be eligible for Express Entry, candidates must:

  • Meet the eligibility criteria of one of the three federal programs (FSWP, FSTP, CEC).
  • Take a language test in English or French to demonstrate proficiency.
  • Have their foreign education assessed against Canadian standards if educated outside Canada.
  • Submit an Express Entry profile by providing accurate and verifiable information.

Improving Your Express Entry Score

Candidates can improve their CRS score in several ways, such as gaining additional work experience, improving language scores, obtaining a job offer from a Canadian employer, or securing a provincial nomination, which adds significant points to their existing score.
